I am a seasoned educator in my 31st year of Secondary Mathematics instruction, having taught courses ranging from Pre-Algebra through AP Precalculus, Statistics, and International Baccalaureate Mathematics courses. I earned my BA in Mathematics from Brigham Young University in 1995 and my MA in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado in 2002. In 2008, I was the recipient of the Dick Butera Distinguished Educator Award.
For several years, I also taught evening and summer College Algebra and Statistics courses part-time at a local community college.
My tutoring career began 34 years ago when I began volunteer tutoring in college. It made such an impact on me that I changed my major and have never looked back! Currently, I teach Algebra 1, Algebra 2/Trigonometry and AP Precalculus at a prominent high school in Colorado Springs, when I am not developing courses for Udemy.
Outside of tutoring and the classroom, I enjoy photography, creative endeavors, spending time with my wife, cooking, good movies, and Jeopardy!, among other things!
My tutoring and education experience include:
- 34 years of individualized and group tutoring experience
- 30+ years in the high school classroom teaching Prealgebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Statistics, and Precalculus with topics from Introductory Calculus.
- Exam Reader for 2025 AP Precalculus Exam Session
- 10 years of online video-based tutoring experience in Algebra 1, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus and PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep
- Instructor in Math 1050: Elementary Functions for Calculus through UCCS (University of Colorado, Colorado Springs)
